You think you’re funny? Funny how?

Ok, so maybe we’re paraphrasing Joe Pesci in ‘Goodfellas’, but we wanted to give a rare opportunity for filmmaking and comedic talent to combine and set the big screen ablaze with the sound of laughter.

We want filmmakers and comedians to tickle the audience’s funny bone with short films or sketches, stand-up or improvisation routines, of no more than five minutes in length.
"It's a rare and free opportunity for comedians and filmmakers alike to actually see how an audience reacts to their work in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere."
MICK ETHERTON, BEEPING BUSH PRODUCTIONS
We allow people time to develop their ideas and scripts – in fact, we recommend that they did. However, as this was a challenge and, once they had a script (or something like it, if they took the Mike Leigh/whose Line is it Anyway approach), we want them to shoot and edit that film in just 48 hours.

Oh, and there’s one more thing the brief contained elements or topics that must be included in their film. Entry to the competition was free.

Event Co-director, Jean Lynch, of Close-Up Film, says:
“We have discovered from our 2 Days Later event that what entrants most want is help with progressing their career. 2 Days Laughter does that by nurturing their talent, introducing them to the right people, providing a platform for their work to be seen by a cinema audience, and then giving practical support in helping them to take their work beyond the competition.”

Although the competition is now closed for 2008 anyone wishing to register their interest for next year's competition then please email here. A selection of film submissions shown at the April Fools' Screening 2008 will be able available to be viewed here on this site from around June 2008. There will be a short documentary of the Screening night available in the next couple of weeks (beginning of May 2008).

Anyone wishing to find out more, is interested in being involved, or would like to know about business opportunities should email info@2dayslaughter.co.uk
