Ok, so maybe we’re paraphrasing Joe Pesci in ‘Goodfellas’, but we want to give a rare opportunity for filmmaking and comedic talent to combine and set the big screen ablaze with the sound of laughter.

We want filmmakers and comedians to tickle the audience’s funny bone with short films or sketches, stand-up or improvisation routines, of no more than five minutes in length.

We allow people time to develop their ideas and scripts – in fact, we recommend that they do. However, as this is a challenge and, once they have a script (or something like it, if they took the Mike Leigh/whose Line is it Anyway approach), we want them to shoot and edit that film in just 48 hours.

Oh, and there’s one more thing, the competition brief contains elements or topics that must be included in their film. The competition and screening is free and open to all.

Deadline for the 2010 competition is now closed however a selection of film entries will be shown at the April Fools' Screening on 27th March 2010 at the Theatre Royal Margate. To get a flavour of the competition why not check out last year's entries and short documentary of the Screening night.
